How can I find out when the practices are?
Practices are currently Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm at Reef Point Marina, Racine harbot, but may change after the Racine festival, July 11-12th, based on our steersman's schedules and availability of the club members. Check our calendar page for the most current schedule.

Are the people on the boats about the same age?
No, we have a variety of ages from 22 to 59 on all of our teams.

Is Dragon Boating a lot like canoeing?
No, the paddle stroke is very different. You use your torso and back to power your stroke instead of using just your arms.

How long are the festival races?
It depends on which festival you attend. The Racine festival is usually 500 meters, running 4 lanes wide with race times often under 2 minutes. There are usually three heats during a festival race with the top three or four teams racing in the final heat.

What can you win at a festival race?
The top team usually wins the right to put their name on the traveling trophy, with medals distributed to the second and third place teams. The most important thing a team receives is the satisfaction of helping charities in the local community while having fun with friends and family.
